Last week, after announcing that exploits discovered for iOS 5.1 would be saved to create an untethered Jailbreak utility for iOS 6 instead, pod2g (a prominent iOS hacker) started having second thoughts and initiated a poll with the intent of having the Jailbreak community determine the fate of the exploits.
As of now, the option to “burn” the exploits and use them in 5.1 instead of saving them is ahead by a considerable amount (63 percent vs. 34 percent). With less than 12 hours left until the poll will officially close, it seems inevitable that the option to create an untethered Jailbreak utility will prevail.
With that said, if you haven’t already, be sure to read my in-depth comparison article for the two options and vote for the option you favor (even if it’s a long-shot).
Stay tuned for more coverage regarding the Jailbreak situation and be aware that even if pod2g decides to utilize the exploits for an iOS 5.1 untethered Jailbreak, it could still be some time before a public release is ready.
